On October 13, 2019, Prof. Aourag Abdelhafid held a meeting with the research laboratories directors of the University of Tlemcen at the conference room of the Department of Pharmacy in the Faculty of Medicine at the downtown pole in the presence of Prof. Boucherit Kebir Rector of the University of Tlemcen, Prof. Bouhicha Mohamed Director of studies at DGRSDT and Prof. Bachir Redouane VRPGRS

Prof. Boucherit opened the meeting by welcoming the DGRSDT and all attendees. He then recalled the purpose of the meeting of this meeting which is the explanation of the new texts governing the management of research laboratories.

Prof. Aourag begun his talk by giving an overview of the results obtained by research institutions in Algeria in recent years.

In this reminder, Prof. Aourag estimated that the number of teacher-researcher in Algeria exceeds 62,000 teachers.

Compared to other countries this number is very important. However, our country's level of innovation and scientific production remains below the targets set, especially for research in medical sciences and social sciences, where the rate of publication hardly exceeds 6% of total national publications.

The research director related this failure for several social and professional reasons.

In order to remedy these shortcomings, the Directorate General of Scientific Research and Technological Development has defined new strategies for the management and follow-up of research laboratories, where most of them will be affiliated to the faculties in the university.

However, the DGRSDT proposes the creation and management of laboratories of excellence to carry out national research programs responding to specific needs.
